Introducing ChatGPT Ads Tracking

As ChatGPT ads open in India and more regions, see who is paying to sit under the answers your buyers already read.

The problem

ChatGPT now sells a slot under the answer. OpenAI started that format in the United States and has been opening more countries. India is live, and businesses there can buy those ads themselves.

What these businesses cannot know yet is who paid to sit under that answer, and which page that ad sends people to.

On prompts our customers already track, we are seeing those ads more often. Advertisers are treating buying questions as inventory. A mention you report on Friday can still share the screen with a bought placement.

What's new

Zerply now records the sponsored ads that appear when your tracked prompts run on ChatGPT. You do not turn anything on. If ChatGPT is one of your tracked platforms, capture runs with the same daily prompt checks you already use.

Open AI Visibility → Home. A tile labeled Ad placements sits in the numbers at the top. Below the Latest Answers feed, an Ads card lists each creative: advertiser domain, headline, description, image, and a badge that says You, Competitor, or Other. Answers that carried an ad get an orange Ads badge. On AI Visibility → Prompts, an Ads column shows how many placements each question attracted, and you can sort by that.

Click an ad for the full creative, first and last seen dates, how often it appeared, its share of every ad we recorded for your team, and the prompts that triggered it most.

The same Home view already lists which sites and social threads those answers cite. Ads add the paid placement on that prompt.

What you can do now

  • Find the questions advertisers already treat as high-intent. Sort Prompts by Ads. The top of that list is commercially contested. Those are the questions where an organic mention is worth more, and where a competitor ad can take the click after you won the mention.
  • Read a rival's paid line next to your mention. Filter the Ads card to Competitor. You get the brand, the copy they wrote, and the page they send traffic to. That helps if you run SEO or AEO, and it helps if you run paid search or performance.
  • Decide whether a mention is enough. A prompt where you show up often can still share the screen with two bought placements. That combination is the case for your own ChatGPT ad, or for tightening the page those ads already send people to.

If Cursor, Claude, or ChatGPT is already connected to your Zerply workspace, you can ask for the ads on your prompts in that chat. The numbers come from the same records as the Ads card.

Try it now

Start free trial, then open AI Visibility → Home. If ChatGPT is already a tracked platform, the Ads card fills in as your prompts run. You can also read our documentation on ChatGPT Ads tracking.
