Zerply GEO Inspector Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 May 2026
This policy describes how the Zerply GEO Inspector browser extension (the “Extension”) handles information when you use it. It applies only to the Extension. For the Zerply web platform and website, see our Privacy Policy.
Summary
The Extension analyzes the webpage you choose in your own browser. It does not send the contents of those pages to Zerply or any other remote server for analysis. It does not use analytics, advertising identifiers, or telemetry in the Extension package.
What the Extension does
When you open the Extension on a tab, it reads the visible HTML of that page (for example meta tags, headings, structured data, and link counts) and may request the same-origin robots.txt file and response headers that your browser can already access on that site. It runs checks locally and shows you the results in the Extension popup.
Data we do not collect in the Extension
The Extension does not collect, store on our servers, or sell:
- Personally identifiable information (name, email, postal address, or similar) from pages you scan
- Health, financial, or authentication data from pages
- Your full browsing history or a list of every site you visit
- Keystrokes, mouse movements, scroll behavior, or other “user activity” monitoring beyond opening the Extension and triggering a scan
- Remote execution of code: all analysis logic ships inside the Extension package. The Extension does not load or run JavaScript or WebAssembly from the network for its core features.
Local storage in your browser
The Extension may use Chrome’s storage APIs only on your device, for example to:
- Keep a cached copy of the last scan for a tab for convenience (session storage, cleared when the browser session ends as described in Chrome’s documentation).
- Remember that you dismissed the first-run notice (local storage).
These values stay on your device under your browser’s control. Zerply does not receive them.
Network activity
The Extension may open a new tab when you choose a link to Zerply’s website (for example “Made by Zerply”). That navigation is subject to Zerply’s normal website privacy practices on zerply.ai.
Fetching robots.txt or sending a HEAD request for headers is performed from your browser to the same website you are inspecting, not to Zerply’s API for page content.
Children’s privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Extension.
Changes
We may update this policy when the Extension changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Extension after an update means you accept the revised policy.
